Why We Do It

Because We Are the Church

1 Corinthians 3:16

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?”

Acts 17:24

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.”

We are His dwelling, not a building or structure, we take Him to the world by taking ourselves.

Because what We Do Matters

Matthew 25:34-36

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

We want to be found on His right when He comes to identify those who are living as His.

Because we believe that being a Christian is MORE THAN SIMPLY BELIEVING

Romans 10:9

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

James 2:19

“You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that and shudder.”

Matthew 10:38

“and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me  is not worthy of me.”

Luke 9:23

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me.”

Luke 14:27

“And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.”

We want to be real followers of Christ, not just people who say they believe.

Because grace is given FOR CHANGE

Ephesians 2:8

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and it is not of yourselves, it is a gift from God, not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Matthew 15:8

“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”

James 2:14-18 (paraphrased)

“What good is it my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?

…faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead…

…show me your faith without deeds and I will show you my faith by what I do.”

We do not want to be people of words only, but people of action, loving like Christ loved.
